IssueMeat Records was founded in Columbia SC by hip hop artist and entrepreneur, Johnta Purnell. After years of struggling to find a record label that shared his vision and values, Purnell decided to start his own. The name "IssueMeat" was inspired by his belief in using music as a platform to address important issues and bring awareness to societal problems. In the early years, the label focused solely on producing and promoting Purnell's music, but as it gain success and recognition, it will expand to sign other talented artists who also share the same passion for using their music for a greater purpose.
